I kick off this blog and start my journey to earn IT certifications and make a career transition into the technical side. For the last 4 years, I’ve been a Business Analyst and Security Administrator for an HRIMS and, while I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve realized how much I needed to be more involved on the technical side. In the past, I’ve spent a lot of time with technology and had always wanted to make the transition but, as a famous Beatles once said, “Life gets in the way”.
Since 1998, I’ve been riding the tech wave in many areas in one form or another. I’ve built and or modified gaming computers, owned a custom build computer company, taken Cisco Networking courses while in college, and last, as previously stated, I’ve been an IT Business Analyst/Security Administrator for the last 4 years.
My goals are to start working on a Help Desk, make the transition to Sysadmin, and then once the foundation is built, to move into Cloud Security. I’m fascinated by virtualization, the abilities the cloud offers, and the security aspects of it all. Hopefully, I’ll continue to be fascinated and enjoy this emerging opportunity in the years to come.
So with my home lab environment, some training videos, and a collection of training texts, I take that first step.
